It’s almost that time of the year again…the beginning of the new semester. Honestly, unlike high school, this is so exciting when you’re in college. We can’t WAIT to get back to Fort Worth and see our friends!! But before that we have to pack…. The stress of starting college and moving away from home is hard enough BUT WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO BRING!! Here is our list of what we absolutely LOVED having in our dorm room.
What to bring to college:
Futon – this was the BEST!! Some of our fav memories were our weekly roomie nights which we spent laying on our futon, watching the Bachelor and eating WAAAYYY too much puppy chow! It was a perfect place to sit and was so comfy. We also loved it because if any of our friends from home came to visit they didn’t have to sleep on the floor!! Truly, we could go on and on. If you have room for a futon in your dorm we would so recommend getting one!
Mattress topper – Your college will not have a comfortable mattress. Simple solution: Mattress topper. These foam pads are only a couple inches thick and lay on top of your mattress, right under your sheets! ADD THIS TO YOUR LIST it makes all the difference:)
Fridge cart– TCU actually provides you with a mini-fridge and microwave but something we did buy that was the greatest was this cart that we put them on top of!! A lot of student get these to hold untestils and snacks that don’t need to be refiderated. Everything needs a place in a dorm room because there is very little space, so it is important to purchase storage for your snacks.
Steamer – This little thing came in handy so often. We steamed our clothes for rush and before we went out at night(tbh we even steamed some of our t-shirts). Wrinkled clothes, in our opinion, look unprofessional and sloppy something you don’t want to come off as during all those first impressions!!
Drying rack – It is really bad for some of your clothes to be put in the drier (especially the crappy dorm driers) so it is important to have a place to hang dry. You can set this up on your desk or just on the floor which is what we did!!
Random costumes – You will go to more date nights and mixers than you can count your freshman year so if you have any random costumes sitting around BRING THEM! You don’t want to waste your money on costumes that you might already have at home. Ellie brought a hamper full of costumes and was the go to girl when someone had a themed party to attend. (You may also want to invest in some chunky glitter.) XO, E
