Living in middle America, otherwise known as the flyover states, it’s such a struggle to decide which coast is the best coast. East or west? Over our fall break we went our separate ways. Grace went to New York City and Connecticut and I went to the Coachella Valley in Cali obviously! We decided this was a perfect opportunity to write a post comparing the coasts and their pros and cons to finally decide which coast is the best coast. Oh man, this is going to be a hard one….
West Coast Best Coast
Okay to be completely honest if you know me at all, you know I thrive in places like Nantucket or basically anywhere with a lighthouse but….. CALI! Is there anything better than the palm trees and 80 degrees (or 100 LOL) of California? If you ask me, not much can compare.
I have been vacationing in Palm Desert literally since birth and been there countless of times. It is crazy how beautiful it is, you can see the mountains from wherever you are! We always stay at the Marriott Desert Springs Villas, which is honestly like a home away from home and always feels welcoming. Our typical daily routine consists of waking up when we feel like it because #vacation. If we wake up early enough and it isn’t too hot, we’ll walk 4 miles around the entire perimeter of the resort. We always end our walk at Starbucks and I get a Grande ice coffee blended (STARBUCKS HACK: you feel like you’re drinking a frappe chino but its just coffee and ice) and add a little stevia so its sweet! Then we have to make our hardest decision of the day, which pool are we going to go to? I love the spa pool because it’s quiter and the food is better. After spending hours in the sun, we pick where we are going for dinner our favs are Tommy Bahama’s (their key lime pie is to die for), Pacifica and Las Casuleas Nuevas.
I also like to stop by Palm Springs and see the cool modern decor and art. Here are a few pictures I took in Palm Springs.

East Coast BETTER Coast
Fall break in the East Coast is honestly the best especially coming from Texas. It was so nice to have it actually feel like it was sweater weather and fall! This is the best time of year there, the East Coast’s winters are honestly too cold for me. It’s so fun going to visit my cousins in Connecticut this time of year because all the leaves have changed colors and it’s SO beautiful. Also love how easy it is to go from state to state.. from Connecticut we can drive 10 minutes and be at one of my favorite restaurants Di Nardo’s (the Nutella pizza is my obsession!!) and it’s also so easy to get to NYC.
In NYC, I’m all about going to all the dessert places like Big Gay Ice Cream, Cookie Do, Black Tap and Coolmess. I had never been to Coolmess before this trip and it was such a highlight of my trip. You get to make your own ice cream!!!! And of course, what is a trip to NYC without shopping? Soho is definitely my favorite area, filled with tons of stores I absolutely love such as Rag & Bone, Rebecca Taylor, Topshop, and Sam Edelman.
Soooo..which coast is best?? Leave your comments below!!!
