This past summer I fell in LOVE with kombucha!! There are so many reasons to love it and not just because its tastes amazing.
What is Kombucha?
Kombucha is a type of tea that has been fermented. Strains of specific bacteria are added to black or green tea (omg creepy right)! After this, it is left to ferment for a week or so.
Kombucha is an amazing source of probiotics. Probiotic bacteria is produced during the fermentation process. It is soooo important for you to have probiotics/good bacteria in your system because they keep your pathogens in check, aid your digestion and contribute to immune function YAY!
Often, kombucha contains the same benefits as green tea. Drinking green tea on the regular can increase the calories you burn, reduce belly fat, improve cholesterol, help blood sugar control and much much more!!
ANTIOXIDANTS!! The substances that fight molecules that can damage your cells a.k.a. really important! Research shows that antioxidants from food and drinks are more effective than supplements. Kombucha (especially when made with green tea) is such an amazing source of antioxidants. According to rat studies, drinking kombucha regularly reduces liver toxicity sometimes but AT LEAST 70% WOW!
The acetic acid produced during the fermentation process is able to kill many harmful microorganism SCORE!! A study of chickens shows that kombucha has similar antimicrobial effects as antibiotics and suggested that kombucha could be used instead of antibiotic growth-promoters typically fed to those chickens.
There are so many more benefits of drinking kombucha including reducing heart disease risk, manage type 2 diabetes and protect against cancer.
This Health-Aid Cayenne Cleanse kombucha is so good but definitely has a spicy kick.
My number 1, my ride or die kombucha is this Kevita Ginger kombucha! It is literally my addiction and my bank account is suffering from it.
I also love this GT’s Gingerade kombucha which is very comparable to the Kevita one.
